MORC took 2 quads to An ràs mòr, ‘The big race’, in Cork Ireland, which this year was on the 4th June. We travelled with our friends and rivals Exmouth rowing club so Southwest coastal rowing was represented very well.

There were over 200 boats with over 600 competitors rowing traditional Curraghs, skiffs, wooden yowls, gigs, Thames cutters, Dutch slopes, Cornish lifeboat, cots, celtic longboats, dragon boats, kayaks, and for the 1st time our sliding seat coastal quads.

We raced 28Km in sea, lough, river and estuary conditions, we finished 8th and 13th and were made to feel extremely welcome by our Irish hosts who invited us back for next year race.

Cork is a fantastic place to visit, compete and drink Guinness – definitely worth a return visit !!!
